We implemented this project because we wanted to offer young people tools that would help them not only develop their own skills and competences, but also actively contribute to the improvement of the communities in which they live. The aim was to: Supporting personal and professional growth - active participation in solving real community problems, which enabled them to gain practical skills and experience that increased their engagement, strengthened their civic competences and skills needed for their future e.g. professional life. Through SL we have taught young people in the SL projects to identify the needs of society/community, to take their own position and to actively participate in solving societal challenges We have empowered NGOs, succeeded in creating a stronger network between NGOs and strengthened their capacity to engage young people and disadvantaged groups in volunteering through innovative approaches such as Service learning., We have practically demonstrated to communities, organisations and ultimately to young people themselves that it is possible and natural for projects to be accessible to all young people regardless of their social or economic status, thus promoting inclusion and equality of opportunity.
We implemented this project because we wanted to offer in the Czech Republic an innovative educational strategy of service learning, thanks to which we can perfectly cover not only a societal need = increased involvement of young people in society. We wanted to offer best tools and practices in the Czech Republic- how to combine education with helping the community. To combine two worlds, the world of education and volunteering in order to implement service learning strategies. To transfer know how from the Slovak partner Platforma dobrovoľníckych centier a organizácií, which has proven success in increasing youth engagement through SL. We responded to current society-wide needs - active citizens who participate in community life. To the perceived situation that young people do not participate much in community support because they need to see that the time they put into an activity has to be returned. Altruism is not a reason to get involved. Engaging a young person will be through their own self-development. And SL offers solutions and systematically develops young people's competences, which are a necessity in the 21st century for both the individual and society as a whole.
