The MAXP Digital Careers project solved the problem of insufficient and inefficient support for young people who were at the crossroads of their career choices between the ages of 16 to 23 and wished to succeed in digital professions but lacked targeted support. Our objective was to increase young people's digital competences through comprehensive educational and career support, which combined a gamified learning environment, community-building, and real-life challenges.
We decided to apply for the MAXP DC project in an international partnership to tackle common challenges that we encounter in Czechia, Slovenia, Poland and Spain. These challenges negatively impacted young people at the crossroads of their career choices who wished to explore their interest and career opportunities in digital fields. Those challenges and resulting needs included a problem of insufficient readiness of young people to digital careers resulting in the need of additional support and resources to succeed in digital job market; a problem of fragmented and insufficient career support for youngsters and need to create personalised career pathways and connect to employers and digital professionals; a problem of inflexibility of formal educational systems and need for modern, gamified and community-based learning.
