The project aimed to strengthen European civil society and increase the participation of youth. The specific goals were: To create a platform for NGOs from 5 countries to collaborate and share knowledge to strengthen their capacities in empowering youth. To develop civic skills among youth, such as active citizenship and democratic values. To foster European values and a sense of identity among European NGOs and youth, and to develop a common understanding of issues facing Europe.
The motivation of the consortium, which led to the development of this project, derived from the shared observation of the project partners regarding increasing problems of European democracy, more specifically the increasing problem to reach out to diverse groups of young people in EU countries, their disengagement and potential radicalisation and inclination towards populistic parties and the need of common shared approach among European stakeholders, specially NGOs and youth organisations. By providing various groups of young people with the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to engage with the political process, the project aimed to help them become more informed and engaged citizens who can make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. Last but not least, the project aimed to connect young people directly with politicians and enable effective communication and collaboration on decision making.
