The Erasmus programme at HAWK aims to enable students, teachers and staff to cooperate across national and cultural boundaries in an increasingly globalised world. We see ourselves as part of an international community in which interdisciplinary and cross-societal exchange makes it possible to overcome global challenges. A central concern of our project is to create sensitivity and awareness of cultural differences and to jointly develop strategies for overcoming them. Overcoming language barriers is also of crucial importance here. International experiences and consciously leaving one's home comfort zone – both physically and digitally – are important steps for personal development. Personal exchange, direct experience of other realities of life and interdisciplinary cooperation contribute significantly to the development of tolerance, empathy and a deeper understanding of global contexts. International topics and issues are not only discussed in the context of mobility, but also continuously at HAWK and integrated into university teaching. Through targeted mobility and cooperation projects with European and non-European partners, we make a concrete contribution to the above-mentioned goals. Our activities within the Erasmus programme contribute to ensuring that all university members take responsibility for sustainable, peaceful and cooperative action and promote the international transfer of knowledge.
