Within the context of THM’s internationalisation strategy and the Erasmus Policy Statement, internationalism is a key building block of THM's overall strategy. It is perceived as a prerequisite for high quality degree courses, teaching and research and also boosts the university’s attractiveness to students, lecturers and partners in industry, teaching and research. By using European mobility funds from the ERASMUS+ programme, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) is responding to the increasing demand for international experience. Subject-related experience abroad is an essential part of the internationalisation of the university and will be further expanded. The aim is to give as many students and university staff as possible the opportunity to develop and expand subject-related international and intercultural skills through their own experience abroad. The Erasmus+ programme is our University's essential part of our internationalisation strategy in order to facilitate student and staff exchange for all members of THM. The programme contributes to mutual understanding within European higher education and fosters civic engagement and identity through the exchange of all THM members. Thanks to the newly established Blended Intensive Programmes, exchange for students with a disadvantaged background is being enabled. This applies especially to international students who are following a full study programme at THM. A stay abroad and the skills the students acquire from them, improve their employability on the labor market and also have positive impact on the welcoming culture embodied at THM regarding international students and lecturers and promote intercultural sensitivity.
