After funding two SMS cohorts from the 2020 project during the corona pandemic (2020/21 and 2021/22), we funded the 2022/23 cohort from the second year of the 2021 project. With the 2023 project, we had hoped to once again fund a regular cohort from a project in the first year of the project (cohort 2023/24). Unfortunately, the funds turned out to be insufficient. We would have been forced to significantly reduce the monthly funding period. Fortunately, we had a small buffer with the 2022 project, which allowed us to fund some of the SMS outgoings in 2023/24. Thus, we were forced to fund the 2023/24 cohort from two different projects: project 2022 and 2023. The aim was to increase or stabilise mobility figures again after the pandemic. Furthermore, a small group of Ukrainian students were to be supported again. If funds were sufficient, individual short-term mobilities were to be supported. The budgets for staff mobility (STA/STT) could have been transferred to SMS if necessary.
