Objectives

Internationalization has always been a fundamental part of TU Darmstadt's vision. In 2013, internationalization was defined as an overarching strategic goal of the university. The resulting structures, processes and measures have contributed significantly to the development of TU Darmstadt in the international environment. TU Darmstadt is now one of the 20 universities in Germany with the highest number of international students (approx. 5,000 including doctoral students). Every year, almost 600 students study abroad, while we welcome around 400 students on our own campus. TU Darmstadt futher aims to increase these figures significantly. We see the European Higher Education Area as the basis for our global activities. Especially in Europe, the importance of international partnerships is historically proven. We see this as the basis for the freedom of science and the independence of research. With our internationalization strategy, we are committed to fundamental European values and to strengthening a truly European identity. The principles of the Erasmus program together with the idea of the European University within the framework of Unite! form the foundation for this vision.
