Objectives

For many years, the Erasmus Programme has been a central element of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences’ (h_da) international orientation and plays a pioneering role in this regard. With over 100 partner institutions within the Erasmus framework, h_da highlights the strong importance of European programmes for its international cooperation. In addition, the university is actively involved in several international networks, including the European University Association (EUA), the Global Polytechnic Education Alliance, the International Association of Universities, and the HAWTech network. Particularly noteworthy is h_da’s successful participation in the European University Initiative. As a member of the transnational alliance European University of Technology (EUt+), h_da is working together with eight European partner universities to develop a technology-focused European university. The goal is to make a meaningful contribution to European integration under the guiding principle “European Values Empowering Technology.” In this context, the Erasmus Programme plays a particularly important role: it serves not only as a driving force for student and staff mobility but also as a catalyst for strategic development. Erasmus takes a leading role among exchange programmes, especially in the areas of green transition, inclusion, and digitalisation. These priorities contribute significantly to the ongoing internationalisation of h_da and support the implementation of European quality standards across teaching, research, and administration. In recent years, h_da has steadily increased its exchange activities, while also successfully raising awareness within the university of the importance of international cooperation.
