In May 2025, TU Dresden (TUD) once again secured its status as a university of excellence with five approved clusters of excellence. TUD sees this award not only as an appreciation, but primarily as a mission and task for the future. All efforts are therefore geared toward creating excellent conditions on site so that the university will continue to play a pioneering role not only regionally and nationally, but also internationally. Since science and research are by definition internationally oriented, internationalization is also given decisive importance at TUD. One of TUD's four main strategic areas of action is therefore the internationalization of studies and teaching. This goal is achieved primarily by promoting student mobility abroad through the expansion of mobility windows, simplifying recognition procedures, and significantly expanding English-language study programs. However, the welcoming culture and diverse efforts in the internationalization@home format, which aim to create an international, cosmopolitan campus, also contribute to the success and further development of the project. Without Erasmus+, achieving these goals would be unthinkable. Erasmus+ makes internationalization a tangible experience for students and staff alike, promotes the European idea, and fosters inter-institutional cooperation. Erasmus+ also sets standards in the field of digitalization that have spillover effects on other internal mobility and exchange programs. This contribution should not be underestimated, as digitalization and the further development of digital governance under the leadership of the Chief Officer for Digitalization and Information Management (CDIO) are core topics of TUD's Excellence Strategy with many facets. Within the framework of our EUTOPIA university alliance, new formats for innovative, inclusive teaching models are also being developed and the promotion of (short-term) mobility is being driven forward. Consequently, mobility flows within the framework of Erasmus are an essential building block for the success of the university alliance. Above and beyond these efforts, TUD sees itself as an inclusive university. Creating positive conditions is crucial for improving participation at TUD, with Erasmus in particular making an important contribution to the university with the introduction of social top-ups.
