Trier University of Applied Sciences is an internationally oriented university with regional roots. It cooperates with international partners in research and teaching and promotes the exchange of students, professors, teachers, and staff. Within the framework of this Erasmus project, Trier University of Applied Sciences has completed 136 of the approved mobility opportunities, including one BIP, in accordance with the contractually stipulated EU guidelines. This corresponds to the approved numbers for student mobility and exceeds them for staff mobility. This has enabled all prospective students and staff to gain the desired international experience. The internationalization of the university itself has been promoted by the Erasmus activities undertaken. In particular, many new employees and lecturers have enriched the university's international landscape through their Erasmus-supported mobility, in line with Trier University of Applied Sciences' internationalization strategy. With the help of additional staff hired from other resources and a wider range of language courses, the support of mobile students, both incoming and outgoing, could be intensified. In addition, the incoming students benefited from the now well-established buddy program and a virtual preparation phase for the planned mobility. A key area of action is the expansion of courses taught in English. Building on already implemented study formats, additional English-language modules are to be developed and bilingual offerings further established. This measure will contribute to increasing the university's international visibility and facilitating access to the degree programs for international students. This project will be complemented by the further development of study-related support services. International students, particularly in the initial phase of their studies, will be specifically supported through phase-specific information, advice, and mentoring. The combination of digital and personal support forms supports a structured study start and promotes social and academic integration. Another focus is on measures to improve academic success and prepare for the transition to the job market. Language support, intercultural training, and closely supervised mentoring strengthen the self-efficacy of international students and contribute to increasing the degree completion rate and career orientation in the long term. In addition, international university collaborations will be expanded and intensified. The expansion of strategic partnerships, for example, in the Greater Region and with universities in other European countries, strengthens Trier University's position in the international educational arena. Digital and hybrid exchange formats such as Virtual Exchange and Blended Mobility create new mobility options and enable low-threshold participation. The planned projects address key development lines at Trier University of Applied Sciences, as laid down in the university's internationalization strategy. The goal is to view internationalization not as an isolated measure, but as an integral component of all areas of the university – particularly in teaching and learning, support, research, and administration. The expansion of English- and bilingual-taught courses makes a concrete contribution to the objective formulated in the strategy paper: to increase the visibility of international study programs and improve the international compatibility of the degree programs. Students should be enabled to operate in international contexts, which is supported by modular, interdisciplinary teaching formats.
