Objectives

As part of the 2023 funding period, the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin successfully implemented various measures in the fields of study, internships and continuing education. Important goals were achieved that strengthened both the international orientation of the university and the individual support of students. Objectives and results: 1. promotion of individual study programmes through international experience: The measures to integrate international study and practical experience have contributed to a noticeable improvement in students' subject expertise, academic success and intercultural competence. In particular, the strengthening of students' personal responsibility was a central aspect that was successfully implemented. 2. improving the employability of graduates: The study and practical mobilities will significantly increase the chances of (future) graduates on the global labour market. Especially in the context of the global labour market and international artistic fields of activity, the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin was able to provide its students and graduates with valuable skills and networks. 3. strengthening the university's artistic and creative profile: The university has further strengthened its position in the European art and higher education area. By participating in ERASMUS+, the European dimension of the university's artistic profile was sharpened and consolidated in the long term. Students also benefited from the expanded artistic perspectives and synergies beyond the borders of the ERASMUS+ programme area. 4. further development of the international network: Collaboration with international partner universities was further expanded. This not only gave the university's students and teaching staff access to new academic and artistic impulses, but also promoted the mutual transfer of knowledge. The resulting synergy effects contribute to the further development of the teaching programme and to knowledge sharing and transfer. 5. promotion of a welcoming culture: The measures to promote an open, cosmopolitan and interculturally respectful university community are an essential component of the internationalisation strategy. The welcoming culture of the university is visibly strengthened through the experiences of the participants, which is reflected in the high level of satisfaction of incoming students and teaching staff. 6. active implementation of the university's internal internationalisation strategy: The university is committed to implementing its internationalisation strategy consistently and in compliance with the highest quality standards. In the long term, this will lead to a noticeable improvement in international cooperation and the mobility of students and teaching staff. 7. promotion of the diversity policy: The measures implemented have also provided important impetus for the university's diversity policy. The promotion of diversity and equal opportunities in the fields of study, internships and continuing education was successfully advanced. Conclusion: Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin made significant progress in the areas of internationalisation, diversity and employability in 2023. The targeted implementation of measures and close cooperation with international partners paved the way for the sustainable and future-oriented further development of the university. The goals set were largely achieved, which not least further consolidates the university's international positioning.
