Objectives

Participation in the Erasmus programme is a central component of Hof University of Applied Sciences' internationalisation strategy. The university focuses on partnerships within the Erasmus area and has approximately 40 partnerships. In addition, there are focal points in India, Central Asia and Latin America. In contrast to these, the partnerships in Europe are primarily intended to give students in Hof the opportunity to spend one or two semesters abroad. This is particularly important for the Bachelor's degree programme in International Management, as it requires students to spend time abroad (studying and doing an internship). For all other degree programmes, voluntary windows have been set up to enable mobility. As a university of applied sciences, internships (abroad) play an important role. These are also being taken up more and more by international students. Since long stays abroad are not possible for all students, this project has once again made short term mobilities (blended mobilities) possible. The mobility of university staff in teaching and training is intended to strengthen the international networks of the university and its employees. At the same time, this should enable a transfer of knowledge between the partner institutions. Another opportunity to gain international experience is through Internationalisation @Home. German students had the opportunity to come into contact with incoming students from Erasmus partner universities. The experience is even stronger when lecturers from partner universities visit the university. The same applies to the rest of the staff at Hof University of Applied Sciences. This means that even those who cannot go abroad can benefit. In summary, students are given the opportunity to gain experience in other European countries. This strengthens their employability in Germany, which is still an export-oriented economy. Networks are created between institutions (especially through staff mobility), which increase the visibility of Hof University of Applied Sciences and the region. In addition, participation in the programme strengthens European identity at the university and in the region.
