In the Erasmus+ project year 2023, Merz Akademie, University of Applied Arts, Design, and Media, participated with measures in staff mobility for teaching and training purposes as well as student mobility for study periods abroad. In addition, the university acted as a coordinating institution for the implementation of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) and also took part in a BIP workshop organized by a partner institution. This enabled the university to gain valuable experience with short-term mobility formats and to provide students with further opportunities to participate in the Erasmus+ programme. The project objective was to enhance the international character of the study programmes by increasing the number of international lecturers (incoming and outgoing), intensifying student mobility for study abroad, strengthening international collegial exchange and staff training, and further expanding cooperation with international partner universities. The university promotes internationalization in particular through the regular involvement of international lecturers in teaching, through cooperation projects between faculty members – for example, in artistic research – as well as through targeted support for students who wish to pursue a study period abroad.
