The Technical University of Munich (TUM) promotes globalization and international scientific exchange. As one of Germany's largest and most international universities—with about 53,000 enrolled students, including more than 23,000 international degree-seeking students—our commitment to fostering global academic mobility and cooperation is deeply embedded in our institutional mission. The overarching aim of implementing the Erasmus+ project at our university was to further internationalize our institution, broaden the academic and intercultural horizons of our students, postgraduates, scientists, administrative staff and science managers, and strengthen strategic partnerships across Europe. The Internationalization of TUM is not an isolated process, but a decisive element of TUM's current and future strategy and the Erasmus+ Programme plays a key role in it. Besides about 43% international students, about 1600 exchange students, including nearly 1000 Erasmus+ students, also join TUM for one or two semesters each year. This international diversity contributes to a tolerant, open relationship among international and domestic students, scientists and staff at TUM. In addition, the Erasmus Programme strengthens students' skills, breaks down barriers, promotes inclusive teaching, and builds sustainable partnerships with European universities.
