Goethe University (GU) defines itself as an internationally networked, research-intensive university in the heart of Europe, rooted in the Rhine-Main metropolitan region and facing up to the challenges of global developments. For us, internationalisation is not an end in itself, but a university-wide task that we implement with the principle of i-mainstreaming in all areas of the university. Both internationalisation at all levels and the horizontal priorities of the Erasmus programme such as digitalisation, inclusion, diversity, civic engagement and sustainability are reflected in our strategic university measures to improve quality in studies, research, teaching and administration. The internationalisation concept, the mission statement for teaching, the inclusion action plan, the digital strategy and the sustainability strategy - to name just the most important strategic concepts at GU - include the following objectives: - Intensification and expansion of international collaborations - Increasing the number of exchanges - Expanding the range of English taught courses, international degree programmes and internationalised teaching formats - Digitalisation of teaching and studies and promotion of digital skills - Raising awareness of inclusion and diversity - Promoting an understanding of sustainability among all university members - Practising multilingualism in administration and on campus - Education for responsible, democratic global citizens In implementing all these strategic goals, we benefit extensively from the diverse portfolio of cooperation and mobility opportunities offered by the Erasmus programme.
