Cross-border cooperation between institutions of higher education and industry within the Germany–Luxembourg–France triangle constitutes a central pillar of htw saar’s internationalisation strategy. This regional focus continues to represent the most significant target area within the ERASMUS+ programme. In this context, mobilities to the neighbouring countries of France and Luxembourg are systematically promoted, while partner institutions in Metz and Luxembourg equally encourage student and staff exchanges with htw saar. In addition to this regional priority, htw saar has pursued the objective of diversifying its mobility portfolio by strengthening academic cooperation with universities in the Nordic countries as well as in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). These institutions have been identified as strategic partners, for example with regard to the further development of English-taught double degree programmes. htw saar is committed to promoting equitable access to mobility. Special emphasis has therefore been placed on increasing the participation of underrepresented groups, including students with special needs and international degree-seeking students. In parallel, the objective remains to maintain the consistently high level of mobility among teaching staff, while also significantly enhancing the opportunities for non-academic staff to engage in international training and exchange activities. Finally, within the framework of this first post-pandemic project phase, a dual objective was pursued: on the one hand, to restore long-term mobility figures to the levels that had been achieved before the pandemic; and on the other hand, to stabilize and consolidate the newly established short-term mobility formats.
