At Paderborn University, the Erasmus+ project 2023 was characterised by both a continuation and further development of already existing and new partnerships with Higher Education Institutions. In particular, we fostered the cooperation with our eight partner universities within our European University Alliance COLOURS: University of Le Mans (France), University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), University of Ferrara (Italy), University of Kristianstad (Sweden), Jan Dlugosz University (Poland), Josip Jurai Strossmayer University of Osijek (Croatia), University of St Kliment Ohridski Bitola (North Macedonia) and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (Latvia). We succeeded in concluding digital inter-institutional agreements for student and staff mobility in a large variety of subject fields with our alliance partners as well as succeeded in general in increasing the number of digitally concluded agreements with our existing and new partner universities via Erasmus Without Paper. With the implementation of the Erasmus+ project, Paderborn University aims at making quality stays abroad possible for all students and staff by supporting them financially and organisationally. Participants of the Erasmus+ project are likely to improve their intercultural awareness, language proficiency, academic and social skills as well as job opportunities. Additionally, by offering short-term blended mobility for outgoing students, we intended to both foster the mutual cooperation with specific partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and to enable students to participate in Blended Intensive Programmes abroad, in particular in study areas with limited long-term mobility possibilities. It was our goal to attract more students taking part in a BIP at one of our partner institutions. By offering a wide range of support for incoming exchange students, we aim at attracting a large number of students from partner institutions and hence further foster the mutual exchange. By supporting teaching activities at partner institutions as well as contact journeys to (future) partner institutions, we pursue the goal to further expand as well as strengthen the (existing) cooperation network with Higher Education Institutions. We aim especially at increasing the number of inter-institutional agreements in different study fields with existing partners in order to offer a wider range of qualitative stays abroad to students of Paderborn University and hence to be able to increase the number of mobilities. At an early stage, we introduced structures to technically implement Erasmus Without Paper and hence foster digitalisation at Paderborn University. Internationalisation is also particularly embedded in our digitalisation strategy, envisaging for instance the development of bi- and transnational digital teaching formats with cooperation partners, especially in collaboration with partners within the European University Alliance. Blended Intensive Programmes are one example to realize these formats. With the inclusion of KA131 International in our strategy, we focus on the continuation and strengthening of the bonds with our partner institutions in the United Kingdom.
