For the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), the Erasmus+ program is the platform through which most internationalization activities in Europe are carried out. Erasmus+ is an integral part of KU's own internationalization efforts and has become an indispensable part of everyday university life. A wide range of attractive international exchange and double degree opportunities at partner universities worldwide is essential for KU in competing with universities at home and abroad. The aim is to send its own students, lecturers, and staff to attractive partner universities worldwide and to facilitate international exchange and intercultural encounters “at home” by bringing together local students and staff with exchange students and colleagues from partner universities on its own campus. The opportunity for students to gain international work experience through Erasmus+ funded internships abroad and thus also gain experience abroad outside of university life is an essential part of the KU's international orientation. The program goals were achieved and even exceeded.
