At the University of Passau, Erasmus+ is firmly embedded in everyday academic life and supports both students and staff in their international mobility. Close cooperation with international partner universities and institutions enhances academic exchange. At the same time, the program helps to develop intercultural skills and strengthens European collaboration. The experiences gained and the networks established during these stays provide participants with long-term personal and professional benefits, while also fostering an awareness of a shared European identity. The experiences during the project period have made clear that a united Europe is essential for overcoming crises. Erasmus+ therefore offers students and staff the opportunity to experience the advantages of the EU and to pass them on. In several degree programs, a period of study abroad is mandatory. The majority of students choose European partner universities or internship placements. In addition, double-degree programs lead to compulsory mobility within Europe. Furthermore, the wide range of subject-specific language courses encourages students to go abroad even beyond the required mobilities. Since studying or completing an internship abroad is only possible for many students with financial support, the Erasmus+ program provides an important foundation through mobility grants and tuition fee waivers. At the same time, this funding creates additional incentives to gain international experience in Europe—for both students and university staff. A key goal in the university agreement with the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts is internationalization with a particular focus on Europe. In addition, the Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity places special emphasis on promoting cross-border cooperation as well as strengthening internationalization overall and within the European dimension in particular.
