Objectives

The project initially aimed to contribute to a better understanding of the specific situation of Ukrainian universities during wartime and to examine the related developments and needs concerning digital teaching. From the perspectives of both lecturers and students, it sought to analyze the interest in digital courses offered with and by EU universities, as well as the expectations associated with them. Based on this needs analysis, Ukrainian lecturers and lecturers from EU partner universities were to be paired in an innovative, collaborative tandem format (“Teacher Twinning”) to jointly develop new digital courses. This approach was intended to foster an exchange of expertise, generate subject-specific and didactic impulses in both directions, and address potential gaps in the curricula, particularly at Ukrainian universities. At the same time, the project aimed to strengthen the didactic and methodological competencies of teaching staff. The partnership in digital teaching and the jointly offered digital courses of the partner universities were to be further developed and expanded.

Background

The project “EdUp” was deliberately launched to complement, continue, and further develop the successful Ukraine support project “SUUUpoRT” (funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education Teaching). Through the parallel extension of the SUUUpoRT project, EdUp continued to support the Ukrainian higher education system, while placing a stronger emphasis on international collaboration and the joint development of modules through “Teacher Twins.” As part of this follow-up initiative, Ukrainian students and academic staff were to be given continued opportunities to pursue and supplement their studies and teaching through TUBAF modules. In addition, the project aimed to foster exchange among lecturers and to support more intensive collaboration. For this purpose, dedicated co-teaching projects were established.
