Objectives

The project aimed to further qualify staff in Neukölln’s youth employment support for work with young people moving from school to employment. Key areas were: 1) adapting and expanding tools for training and career planning, 2) strengthening cooperation within the JBA, and 3) improving approaches for refugees and migrants. Through European mobility activities, participants learned new methods and best practices, reflected on them, and integrated them into their work.

Background

The Youth Welfare Office in Neukölln provides services under SGB VIII. The youth employment service in the Youth Employment Agency (JBA) guides young people from school to work. Within the JBA, youth welfare, the Employment Agency, the Jobcentre and schools collaborate on tailored support. The pandemic’s impact, rising refugee numbers and a shortage of skilled workers required new tools. A short-term project with job shadowing fostered professional exchange and fresh impetus.
