With the implementation of the project, we aimed to revise the support concepts of the project partners in order to improve the overall support strategies. Each partner contributed specific expertise: one in inclusion, one in the education of refugees from Ukraine, and the last in internal differentiation. This enabled participants to pursue targeted training and develop new approaches for individualized support. By the end of the project, our goal was to establish optimized support concepts that included action plans for internally differentiated support in heterogeneous learning groups. This was intended to help prevent learning disadvantages and reduce early school dropout, aligning with the priorities of “Inclusion and Diversity” as well as “Combating Learning Disadvantages.” In addition, we wanted all project participants to experience European values such as tolerance and democracy. Through activities like creating an intercultural cookbook, positive examples of intercultural cooperation were to be developed. These materials were intended to be used in the school community in the long term to foster an open attitude toward Europe and its values.
We applied for this project in order to address the challenges of heterogeneity in schools, in particular the integration of refugee children and young people into the European education system. The diversity of students in terms of performance, gender, and cultural background requires individualized support and adapted teaching approaches. In schools, differing perspectives often lead to conflicts that disrupt everyday life. These conflicts frequently stem from prejudice and a lack of mutual understanding. By collaborating with various project partners, we aim to develop different approaches to fostering tolerance and democracy. Our objective was to create sustainable teaching materials that strengthen respectful coexistence and better take into account the diversity of school communities. We want participants to become open-minded individuals who promote the values of the European community. The project is intended to contribute to shaping participants into globally minded citizens who actively strengthen the European community of values.
