Objectives

As part of the implementation of the project “STEM for Inclusive Schools”, the consortium partners view the empowerment of STEM professionals in the competent use of digital technologies as a key approach to effectively addressing existing challenges in STEM participation. The project aims to expand the skills of STEM teachers, trainers, and the entire school community by supporting them in developing inclusive, motivating, and digitally enriched teaching and learning approaches. By introducing innovative ways of using digital resources in STEM education, the project seeks to increase interest in STEM, enhance participation, and ensure that learners receive high‑quality and adaptable learning opportunities. - Empower STEM professionals to integrate digital technologies safely and effectively into their teaching practice. - Increase interest and participation in STEM subjects, particularly among learner groups that have been underrepresented to date. - Strengthen the digital competence of schools and STEM communities in order to create inclusive and high‑quality learning environments. - Promote innovative digital teaching and learning methods that support differentiated learning needs.

Background

The application for STEM for Inclusive Schools (STEMinSCH) was based on three key motivations: 1. Growing need for skills/digital competencies (e.g., problem-solving) that are crucial for the future. 2. Current challenges in the STEM field: low participation of certain groups, especially girls, despite comparable abilities. 3. The potential of digital technologies in the classroom is not being sufficiently utilized. STEMinSCH takes into account: Socio-political needs - Increasing STEM participation - Building a digitally competent population - Reducing inequalities Needs of educational institutions/partners - Exchange of best practices/experiences between countries and organizations - Further development of curricula and greater integration of digital technologies Needs of teachers a) Professional development in the use of digital tools b) Adapting instruction to different learning styles and c) The need for inclusive, student-centered methods. Learner Needs 1) Consideration of different learning styles and individual differences 2) Promotion of interest, self-confidence, and participation in STEM fields 3) Reduction of learning gaps and educational inequalities.
