Background

We applied for this project, because it is important to educate young people on the key issues energy, mobility and housing and to involve them in making decisions for a world they will have to live in tomorrow. Europe is facing a huge challenge: we must manage to drastically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, transform the entire energy sector and make all areas of our lives more sustainable. The necessary change is a task for society as a whole and students today are part of the solution. With the “Energy Transition Action Day” we educate students 15+ about climate change, but most of all we invite them to become active, to contribute their ideas and visions for a climate-friendly, sustainable future and thereby initiate positive change in their place of resident. At the same time, we are counteracting the climate fears and concerns of the younger generation, which are demonstrably on the rise. Through learning content on energy, mobility and housing, the playful planning of their city of the future with fact-based decisions and the direct exchange at eye level with representatives of their municipality, they experience themselves as effective and realize that change is possible and can succeed.
