Objectives

In our application for accreditation, we described two objectives, which we wanted to pursue in the years 2023-2027 (before 2023 we were still running projects granted under the non-accredited status): Objective 1: What’s worth working for. The tasks of democracy we always believed in Objective 2: From fringe to centre. Interest representation and self-efficacy In the period from 06/2023-08/2024 we carried out one activity under each objective, which are described in separate paragraphs under each of the following sections. Both activities were carried out in the way they were planned and achieved the results and impact that we had envisaged. This will elaborate on this with references to the aims, settings, contents, and outcomes given in our application. Activity 1: Living diversity In the seminar "Living Diversity - Empowerment and Inclusion of the migrants in Europe" youth workers and other multipliers from various NGOs from Italy, Poland, Romania, North-Macedonia and Germany came together, all of them either representing or working with migrant communities. In times of war and forced migration, racism and discrimination in Europe, the seminar served as a unique learning opportunity to jointly discover ways to promote diversity, anti-discrimination and inclusion of migrants, particularly through youth and educational work. Within the project, the participants dealt especially with following questions and issues: How to engage and work on eye-level with especially young migrants? What approaches can be used for empowerment and promotion of active citizenship among migrant communities? What are successful methods and lessons learnt from others? What kind of possibilities are there for cooperation among NGOs on the international level? The objectives for the participants were to learn about pedagogical methods of diversity and democracy education as well as taking into account intersectional perspectives regarding identity and discrimination. Second, the participants got the chance to learn from best practice examples of anti-discrimination work from organisations and projects both taking part in the seminar as well as in the area of Hamburg. Last but not least, the project offered space and support to develop their own project ideas on the international level. Objective 1 (activity 4, the system did not provide a no. 2): What’s worth working for Title of the activity under this objective implemented from Sept. 29 – Oct. 08, 2023, was “Let’s be, what we want to be. Freedom and democracy in European and Arab societies.” Here are the objectives that we wanted to achieve: We wanted to establish and strengthen a network of 6 organizations from European and Arab countries, which cooperated in the fields of democratic youth work based on common values and concepts. As part of this network cooperation we - developed concepts of education for democratic citizenship that were suitable and adaptable to the specific needs of each country: Here we particularly focused on the specific conditions in each country. - strengthened our organizations and their networks as part of civil society in order to optimize our impact on the environment: This meant to overcome serious restrictions imposed on civil societies especially in Egypt, to some extent in Jordan and increasingly in Tunisia, but also in Poland under the auspices of the PIS government. - designed training concepts for sustainable and inclusive anti-discriminatory work fostering dialogue and diversity: This objective we achieved by implementing the train the trainers program from Sept. 29 to Oct. 08, 2023, the major activity under this objective. - implemented digital tools and methods as a genuine part of institutional cooperation and training concepts: After Covid we included digital team meetings in which the representatives of the cooperating institutions discussed the concept of the training and exchanged experiences. Especially the team used digital tools for preparation and evaluation. - used our international setting as a source of inspiration and of pooling expertise to optimize our impact and multiplying effects: We shared our experiences in public relations and thereby spread the news on our project and cooperation.
