The project pursues three main objectives to foster intercultural encounters and create a sustainable perspective in rural areas. **Objective 1: Establishing long-term partnerships and ensuring continuity in international youth encounters** Our goal is to build stable partnerships that facilitate ongoing international youth exchanges in rural areas. A diverse program of sports, arts, and culture encourages exchange, allowing young people to learn from each other across cultural and geographic boundaries and to experience a shared Europe. The structurally weak Uckermark region in Brandenburg, where the project is based, offers an idyllic setting that supports meaningful encounters. These partnerships are intended to facilitate regular European exchange projects and establish them sustainably in rural areas, thereby promoting encounters on a long-term basis. **Objective 2: Raising awareness for a sustainable, green Europe and fostering orientation towards a shared framework for action** This project aims to enhance young people's awareness of an ecologically responsible Europe and collaborative action. Given global environmental challenges, it is essential to raise awareness for environmentally conscious actions. Through workshops, creative projects, and direct nature experiences, participants will gain a better understanding of ecological connections and the importance of a sustainable lifestyle. The close proximity to nature in the rural setting helps them assume responsibility for environmental protection and see themselves as active shapers of a green Europe. **Objective 3: Promoting acceptance and tolerance in rural areas for an inclusive Europe** The project focuses on strengthening tolerance and acceptance among young people in rural areas and reducing prejudices against other cultures. Young people from diverse cultural backgrounds work together in sports, arts, and culture, learning to appreciate diversity as an asset. Through intercultural dialogue and shared activities, they develop a respectful and open attitude towards others. The goal is to promote awareness of inclusion and equality in rural areas, thereby contributing to the development of a more united Europe. **Implementation and Achievements to Date** When designing our three youth encounters, we consistently kept these objectives in mind. Through intensive discussions with young people, we were able to integrate their needs and perspectives into the conceptual and artistic design of the workshops. All participating artists had previously worked on artistic projects that addressed the main themes of our program. Our first youth encounter, titled "Cultural Roots," took place in August/September 2023 and focused on tradition and cultural roots in the context of migration, which has greatly shaped Europe over recent decades. Participants engaged with the cultural expressions and traditions that migrants have brought into and contributed to European society. The primary goal of this encounter was to promote equal opportunities and expand international networks. Thus, the project provides young people from rural areas—who often have less access to global topics and networks—the chance to develop creative solutions for global challenges and to strengthen their artistic and social skills. Another key objective is to establish the intercultural work of the Kilombo Kleinow center in the Uckermark on a sustainable basis and to build long-term regional partnerships. Through cooperation with local institutions and European partners, acceptance of intercultural projects in the region should be strengthened, and the cultural offerings sustainably expanded. Kilombo Kleinow aims to become a central location for cultural exchange and intercultural learning, connecting international youth with the local community. These measures help to build bridges between cultures and regions, foster a sustainable future, and contribute to the continued development of the European ideals of diversity and tolerance. In 2024, we revisited this theme in a further youth encounter entitled "Cultural Roots Exchange" to explore additional perspectives and ideas. In our youth encounter "Future Visions," we focused intensively on Objective 2, collaborating with 60 young dancers and musicians to create an artistic project aimed at raising awareness of a sustainable Europe. Through this creative engagement, we were able to inspire all participants with a shared vision of a green Europe.
