Objectives

Overarching goal The mobilities of this project were designed with the overarching aim to cultivate 21st-century resilience, specifically through empowering participants with the COMPETENCES & MINDSETS that young people (and those who work with them) need to thrive as individuals & as parts of a democratic society in the modern world. Context The framing of this project emerged from critical observations of 3 intersecting challenges, relevant in the field of youth: As first, while digitalization offers unprecedented opportunities, it simultaneously creates new vulnerabilities (amplification of misinformation, “digital barriers” to full participation & inclusion) for young people (YP) & even more so for marginalized youth. We recognized that TECHNICAL DIGITAL LITERACY combined with CRITICAL THINKING is imperative for YP to have to navigate digital landscapes ethically, safely & confidently. Secondly, we see YP increasingly disconnecting from civic life; not out of apathy, but from a sense that their voices aren’t heard. Trust in institutions is fading & many feel traditional participation fails to address their real-world struggles. In this context, nurturing ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ATTITUDES becomes vital, i.e. motivating YP to stay informed, feel connected to broader societal dynamics & recognise themselves as integral parts of a larger community whose engagement matters. Thirdly, we witness persistent leadership & agency gap faced by YP, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. Too often, youth are engaged merely as participants in activities, with limited opportunities to grow into LEADERSHIP ROLES or influence decision-making in their communities, calling for interventions that prioritize visible efficacy, i.e. interventions that help YP change their focus from "They promised that" into "I changed this". Objectives Building on this overarching aim, the project pursued distinct yet complementary objectives through the implementation of a Training Course & a Youth Exchange, each designed to address specific dimensions of the identified challenges. The TC was developed with the objective of strengthening the competences of youth workers & educators in delivering inclusive digital education, particularly for young migrants & refugees. The specific objectives of this activity were to: • Strengthen youth workers’ capacities in digital literacy & media education, with a focus on ethical & critical navigation of digital spaces • Equip YW with: i) participatory pedagogical methods to better engage young people, especially those with migrant or refugee backgrounds ii) strategies for building sustainable learning habits in their beneficiaries, to support long-term skill development in digital & media literacy • Promote the co-creation of educational tools, involving young migrants as active contributors to the development of learning materials • Contribute to the development of the Digital4All e-learning curriculum framework, ensuring it reflects both research-based insights, young migrants’ voiced needs & practitioner experiences • Facilitate professional exchange of good practices among youth workers in the fields of digital education & inclusion The YE was designed with the primary objective of fostering leadership skills, civic engagement, & active citizenship attitudes among young people from diverse & often marginalized backgrounds. The specific objectives were to: • Develop YPs leadership skills by putting participants “on the driver’s seat” through practical facilitation opportunities • Foster active citizenship attitudes, encouraging YP to stay informed, connected & engaged in civic life • Promote peer learning & co-creation, by empowering YP to take ownership of parts of the program & contribute to shaping the group's learning journey • Give YP a channel to translate their learning & motivations into action through the design & implementation local action plans & the exchange of ideas in a Think Tank with NGO representatives • Enhance intercultural competences by promoting dialogue, empathy & collaboration across diverse cultural backgrounds In addition, the project also pursued important organisational objectives aligned with our Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation strategy: • Strengthen the partnership network's capacity to collaborate across funding formats, by collaborating in complementary activities that enrich the impact of KA2 projects through mobility experiences • Improve the coherence & strategic positioning of the individual mobility experiences we offer within our long-term organisational planning & goals • Strengthen the inclusion dimension within partner organisations, by reinforcing approaches & tools that better address the needs of young people with fewer opportunities • Promote long-term pathways for youth engagement within our organisations, by creating follow-up opportunities via connecting our KA1 activities with ongoing, relevant larger-scale projects
