Our goal was to foster a more active participation of young people with refugee background in mobility opportunities in Europe through voluntary services, youth exchanges, youth participatory projects, youth worker mobilities. We wanted to empower them to a self-determined life in Europe, promoting equal access to volunteering opportunities and mobility in Europe for all young people, and fostering a more inclusive society in which all can make a change and participate actively in shaping a society based on solidarity and dialogue. Concretely, in the framework of this training project, we wanted to bring together and train a group of youth workers (as well: social workers, community leaders, mediators) to support the already operational moveurope! Mobility hub in the Ruhr Region, Leipzig, Bremen, Bologna (Italy), Grenoble (France), Arenas de San Pedro (Spain) and to train possible new future hubs. Given the internal changes in our association and in the already erxisting moveurope! network, the initial objectives have then be significantly adapted: As we decided to not implement the moveurope! anymore, with out first Training Course we wanted to train our network in taking over the movement and to concretely plan first steps for its future. The other two activities implemented in the framework of this project then already have been aligned with our new strategy and vision: Our new focus lies on anti-discrimination (with a focus on anti-racism and anti-sexism) and social justice and how to sensitize young people for these topics, enable them to get active and how to empower marginalized young people and favour coalitions and alliances. As a consequence, with the other two activities of this project we wanted to lay the foundation for this new vision, get to know existing approaches and best-practices and train a first group of youth workers in how to empower marginalized young people in non-formal education settings.
