Eurostat estimated that the total carbon footprint in Europe in 2019 was 6.7 tonnes of CO2 per person. Young people can reduce their footprint to 2.5 tonnes per year without waiting for governments' action. Carbon footprinting is an effective way for an individual to realize that their personal consumption and local impact significantly change the trajectory of our planet's future. Therefore, we planned to organize a youth exchange in Alanya, Turkey, with 54 young people and 6 youth leaders from 6 different countries. With the youth exchange, we achieved the following objectives. - Raised awareness about environmental awareness and global warming, - Educated young people on how to calculate their carbon footprint and how to reduce it, - Made international environmental posters and slogans from recycled materials to raise awareness, - Developed the creativity of young people, - Empowered young people to initiate environmental campaigns on their own initiative in their local communities, - Promoted non-formal education and Erasmus+ as a support tool for youth empowerment, - Developed young people's awareness of social responsibility, - Increased participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, - Ensured that young people realized their role in social issues by producing new projects.
