Objectives

“Zero-Waste” project aims to realize a youth exchange that bring 6 different country representatives together to discuss/share experiences about local and global ecological issues of today, information/knowledge about ways to protect the environment, raise awareness among young people about the importance of sustainable living, create an informative campaign that each participant country can develop and implement in their community and try to find solutions together for this problem. Our exchange raised the awareness for not only the protection of the environment, but also for the pollution that we, as volunteers -unaware of being it- are causing in our daily work and consume every day, wasting foods, stationary stuffs, not using eco-friendly materials etc. According to our experiences in youth projects, when project subject is about ‘environment’ people are more careful about everything they do such as not using plastics, not wasting foods and materials etc. but unfortunately we are not so careful in other projects. We see it as a big problem and we believe that with this small step from our project, we can save a lot and contribute a lot in Erasmus+ projects to be more environmental friendly in the future. No matter what are the subjects, all projects can be environmental friendly. We organized a campaign and create professional commercials during the exchange and we shared them with all youth workers and NGOs in order to show to their volunteers and people in their locals. Now, our partner organizations even can show them before their projects start in order to have zero waste projects. The project, also, promoted environmental awareness and active participation of young people based on the principles of non-formal education. We wanted to implement our project by using of non-formal educational methods and activities to achieve the following specific objectives to: • Identify and share similarities & differences in practices used in different countries in terms of protecting the environment, • Encourage everyone -especially young volunteers who are active in civil society- to participate actively in environmental protection and improvement, • Increase awareness about being ‘environmental friendly youth’ by organizing campaigns and shooting videos, • Develop a sense of responsibility and raise youth awareness of their own influence on the natural environment (create an informative campaign that each participant country can develop and implement in their community), • Offer the opportunity to meet partner groups and develop concrete ideas for future projects focusing on environmental issues, • Encourage youth to involve in critical and creative thinking about alternatives to these global challenges and to feel empowered to take action to face these challenges, • Give young people the opportunity to acquire skills in organizing, networking, team working and to experience project development in a dynamic international work environment, as a preparation to being an active citizen with selfconfidence in managing tasks and projects, • Use recycling and reusing techniques in everyday life, • Support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus+ Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects in the future, • Professional videos and campaigns by using social media very actively in order to reach as many as people possible for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus+ Program. We believe that teaching, seeing, discovering environmental awareness, has to come from the early age of everyone, and should be a concern of all of us. What we do, what we buy, what means of transport we use, how much trash we produce, how we handle it, how much water we us. All of these aspects are something on what we do not focus properly in our daily life and in our work but the fact is that everyone leaves the ecological footprint and influences the nature. There are ways how to reduce it, we just need to realize it and behave correctly. First step in the process is to start with ourselves; another one is to spread it to others. That’s why we would like to firstly make a change in ourselves and then with young people -especially who are active in civil society and in Erasmus+ projects- as organizing campaigns and prepare videos to show how we waste even during our activities and how we can organize eco-friendly youth projects.
