Objectives

Throughout this youth exchange, young participants had the opportunity to enhance their competencies in the field of environmental protection, adopt new eco-friendly habits, and learn about innovative national practices. Over the course of eight daily activities, participants engaged in the creation and promotion of new methodologies focused on green initiatives, zero-waste actions, and environmental awareness campaigns. Together, they developed actionable strategies for involving young people in the protection of natural resources. The collaboration led to the promotion of environmental awareness messages and the creation of motivational campaigns advocating for sustainability, zero pollution, and the active engagement of youth in eco-actions across Europe. Motivation for organization of the YE: Environmental quality had become a critical concern for public health, economic stability, and overall well-being. However, it continued to face serious challenges—not only from climate change and unsustainable consumption and production, but also from various forms of pollution. Research findings on the quality of life in European cities had raised alarms. The European Environment Agency (EEA) conducted a survey assessing pollution levels in cities across Europe, and the results were both alarming and attention-grabbing. According to the report, NO₂ concentrations of up to 25% were recorded in major cities in France, Italy, and Spain. During the first lockdown in April 2020, NO₂ levels measured at traffic stations dropped by up to 70%. Despite this temporary improvement, 96% of the urban population in the European Union had been exposed to particulate matter levels that exceeded the latest World Health Organization (WHO) health-based guidelines. **YE OBJECTIVES - Improving the knowledge, competencies and skills of young people in the field of environmental protection and ecology - Defining methodologies for the organization of Eco actions that will promote zero waste, reduce pollution and promote green actions - Exchange of national practices in the field of environmental protection through non-formal education - Creating of methods and concepts for raising public awareness through non-formal education in the field of Eco-protection - Developing methodologies and practices that will motivate young people to actively engage in the process of protecting the environment and sustainable development - Presentation of the Erasmus+ program as a method for educating young people with fewer opportunities who have a limited social life.
