Objectives

The project aimed to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in a youth exchange and to create comprehensive forms of non-formal education that foster learning situations in which they can develop diverse competencies and facilitate intercultural/diversity-oriented learning. Furthermore, the goal was to offer a group experience where young people comprehensively assume an active role and emerge strengthened for democratic participation and civil engagement. The thematic focus centered on solidarity and social justice. The topic of was: "Heart, Head, Hands - Perspectives on Social Justice and Solidarity in Europe." The objective was to collaboratively develop perspectives on solidarity in Europe with young people that are forward-looking, build on the experiences and lifeworld of the youth, and have the values of the European Union as a starting point. Central to this was the exchange of perspectives among young people with different societal positions and perspectives (privileges, disadvantageous life situations). Impulses for perspective-taking were established. In addition to the substantive processing of the topic, a theater performance on the theme was developed in art-pedagogical workshops. Through intensive collaboration on a joint theater piece incorporating various cultural practices, diverse forms of cultural education emerged, providing opportunities to enhance media literacy and allowing young people to get to know each other well. Furthermore, freetime activities were offered that framed the thematic and creative engagement. The results of the workshops were presented at the end of the youth exchange to young people, parents, and interested individuals from the region in a theater. The project aimed to facilitate an inclusive learning experience that brings together young people with diverse biographies (e.g., with and without migration experience) and identities. Particularly relevant were the intersectional perspectives on lines of difference such as race, class, gender, and body. The camp activities and procedures were examined and discussed with participants from an environmental perspective (food, materials, waste separation). Overall, the project was comprehensively documented to disseminate the results widely. Exchange processes on methodological approaches were jointly developed and practiced among actors in youth work. Particularly in linking cultural and political education, the project was able to set diverse impulses.
