Objectives

This Youth Exchange brought together 41 participants who will enter a personal journey to develop awareness and understanding of sexism and gender disparities in their societies and their role in it. By all getting away from their immediate environment and lifestyles, participants will set new rules and take collective decisions with people that have different worldview and understanding of things. They will be able to process their own behaviors and to pinpoint sexist behaviors in their everyday life. YE “Equality Rocks” - main aims were as following: 1. To enable participants to understand sexism as an obstacle for a peaceful/nonviolent society/Europe by growing in an intercultural environment propitious for experience sharing and learning. 2. Encourage active citizenship, by demonstrating youngsters the ability they hold to impact the society and encouraging them to participate actively in the community by giving them the command of activities and facilitating actions about sexism. 3. To show the local communities how Youth Exchange projects can affect and mobilize youth around an important societal topic and provide clear and realistic solutions to everyday life issues by involving citizens directly on the ones that they are facing. 4. To encourage and support intercultural bridging to raise awareness about the complexity of personal identity and deconstruct stereotypes and prejudices. This activity will strengthen the partnership between youth work organizations on an international level that shares common ethics and practices and aims to encourage the development of soft skills to help each individual to be an active citizen.
