Objectives

We are pleased to share that the project was successful in meeting all original objectives, which were measured through observations and direct feedback from the participants and the partners. Throughout the YE, we focused on creating a climate in which we can foster and promote a culture of inclusion and active participation of young people. Through their involvement in all the phases of Wild Path (preparation, youth exchange, follow-up), the participants successfully focused on fulfilling 4 of their essential needs, which are: Belonging - they developed a sense of community not only within the groups of participants but also with the local community, with their own country and overall with the European Union. Enjoyment - through the learning-by-doing approach, the participants reflected and developed, while playing games, worked together and took initiative in contributing to the learning process. Power - the participants were protagonists of their own experience, being encouraged to make decisions and be accountable for their actions. We believe in the “there is no mistake” mindset, the project being a learning playground, focusing on bringing awareness and empowering the youth. Independence - the project was hierarchy-free, therefore the role of the organising team was not to control, but to support the community building and learning processes, highlighting the autonomy of each individual. Specifically, the three main objectives which were: - Increase the mobility of young people: We achieved this goal through the activities that took place during the YE and the tools provided to the participants. Furthermore, their involvement in this project has substantially increased the participants' comfort zones and boosted their self-confidence. As a result, they are now more inclined to engage in future mobility experiences, show higher motivation to travel abroad, and have a better understanding of available opportunities. - Develop social, individual and civic competence: By engaging in daily cleaning responsibilities, along with the group dynamic and shared living arrangements such as cooking and cleaning, the structured activities and diverse challenges were instrumental in achieving this goal. Notably, the outdoor challenge played a significant role in fostering participants' interpersonal skills and enhancing their sense of social responsibility. - To activate and support the self-development process of the participants through non-formal and community-based education. We achieved this by providing a framework for the participants to reflect and capture their learning outcomes through reflection groups, open circle, sharing of learning outcomes and introducing the YouthPass. In addition, we also met the following objectives: - Develop cultural awareness and tolerance: By engaging in group assignments and mixed-nationality group activities, the participants developed a better understanding of both their own cultural background and the cultural backgrounds of their peers, thanks to intercultural learning experiences and moments of self-reflection. - Support the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth, in particular the group leaders, the organisers and the involved partners - We accomplished this by integrating the group leaders into the day-to-day activities, giving them the space to facilitate their own workshops and daily team discussions, as well as promoting reflections and feedback exchanges within the organising team. - Enhance notably the participants' foreign language competence - We achieved this by carrying out the activity in English and ensuring mixed groups during the activities so that the participants had to communicate in English with each other. - Increase the capacities of the involved organisations - By implementing new projects together, sharing learnings and experiences and forming new partnerships, we achieved this objective. - Ensure a better recognition of competencies gained through the learning periods abroad - By introducing the YouthPass for the recognition of gained competencies, we achieved this objective. - Increase motivation for taking part in future (formal/non-formal) education or training - By carrying out the activities designed to increase the participant’s competencies, self-esteem and knowledge about other opportunities (e.g. ESC) we achieved this objective.
