Objectives

The aim of the youth exchange was to provide further training in non-formal education and education for sustainable development to young people active in the ‘Travel Different for Future’ project. At the same time, the participants dealt with aspects of sustainability using the example of tourism, a topic that is particularly relevant and interesting for young people, and acquired knowledge on this subject. On the other hand, the participants discussed for the first time within the framework of the project how tourism affects or can affect their own understanding of culture. They addressed the following questions: How far does tourism affect or can it affect your own understanding of culture? To what extent are our stereotypes of other countries, places and cultures shaped by our travel experiences or tourism marketing? What do we see and experience when we are elsewhere? How can tourism or travel contribute to positive contacts and a better understanding between people, cultures and countries? The project aimed to help participants acquire new skills and promote close international cooperation in Slovenian-German teams. The project's goal was to awaken and promote a multi-perspective understanding of the aforementioned topics of tourism, nature and culture. It was about alternatives, initiatives and innovations to help shape a sustainable future in the field of tourism, but also beyond. The project aimed to strengthen the participants in their independent commitment. The aim was to impart skills to the participants that would provide a valuable basis for further engagement with the topics of the youth exchange. The findings and results were to be processed together with the participants in order to incorporate them into the development of educational modules, which were later to be implemented by the participants at schools in Germany and Slovenia as part of the project. The youth exchange was intended to contribute to continuing and deepening the successful cooperation between the two partners in this project. The youth exchange aimed to contribute to intercultural learning and thereby strengthen the intercultural competence of the participants.
