Objectives

Volunteering is important for many reasons among which is environmental protection and fighting climate change. Thus we implemented the Youth exchange ‘Volunteer for Mother Earth!’ that was focused on inspiring young Europeans to get involved in volunteering initiatives for environmental causes close to their hearts. Given that, our mission was to inspire young people across Europe to engage in voluntary initiatives and to give their time to issues or organisations they feel are important or have a special connection to. Our project had the aim to demonstrate the significant positive impact that volunteering can have on personal and professional development, as well as on the environment and society as a whole. We will explore different volunteering opportunities, with a particular focus on the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), which offers young people the opportunity to volunteer or work on projects in their own country or abroad that benefit the environment and communities in Europe. We showcased to the participants how volunteering can be a powerful tool to give new meaning and direction to life, regardless of age or background. To ensure equal opportunities, we reached out to young people who have fewer opportunities, such as members of ethnic minorities, low-income households, remote or rural areas, the unemployed or those on welfare. Therefore, the project’s objectives were set as following: - To inspire and encourage young people to get involved in voluntary activities within their communities and beyond. - Promote the exchange of volunteering experiences between young people from different European countries. - Raise awareness of the social benefits of volunteering and active citizenship. - Raise awareness of the impact of climate change and its consequences for the environment. - To enable young people to identify causes they care about and to promote their active engagement. - Encourage the development of various critical skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and organisation through volunteering. - Support the Erasmus+ programme, the European Solidarity Corps and non-formal education opportunities. - Promote respect for cultural diversity and improve participants' intercultural skills. Support us in our mission to make a positive impact on the environment through volunteering and be part of a better future for us all.
