We wanted to offer a heterogeneous group of young people (Roma and others) the opportunity to present their own point of view through journalistic workshops. We therefore wanted to invite participants from different countries to work together on audiovisual contributions. Firstly, the participants were to be taught basic journalism skills by specialised industry experts. They were to look at the portrayal of Roma in the mass media in order to identify new approaches and narratives. The participants should be supported in recognising discriminatory and stereotypical narratives, which are sometimes conveyed subtly, and in countering them. The technical and technical skills taught should enable them to raise their own voices through audiovisual media. The main aim should be to strengthen young people's potential for civic engagement against discrimination and in favour of equal rights.
