Objectives

Why culture was the main focus of this project? Because culture is a way of life that is based on beliefs, values and practices - shortly, culture shapes the way we live together in society and how we build society through arts, food, rituals etc. Each culture has different characteristics and on the same hand, there are overlapping characteristics through different cultures. Culture is shaping the way we look at the world, it shapes a person's personality and attitudes towards life. Especially for young people, thinking and talking about culture with theirs peer group members can be the connecting element, as everyone can contribuate something, as it is close to ones daily life. The reason why we have decided to carry out this project was very simple: offering young people the opportunity to work on and to learn more about cultural understanding with methods of non-formal education and with artistic methods. Creating and learning more about intercultural comprehension is important for every age group, but - within the context of both our organizations - we see it as a special focus to enable young people to learn more about it through youth exchange projects. The situation of living together in society is getting more complex. Moving abroad is becoming less and less exceptional and we can simply say that in the 21st century everything is connected. However, connection does not always stem from the understanding and tolerance and therefore we need to learn about how we can shape a dialogue between cultures, countries and people. We were eager to work on the project in the way that it corresponds to the EU awareness campaigns: 2022 (European Year of Youth), 2018 (European Year of Cultural heritage) and to make this dialogue happen within a group of youngsters from Georgia and Germany. The plain objective of the youth exchange was to bring together young people from Georgia and Germany and to create a context where the groups can exchange, discuss and learn from each other about theirs cultures, theirs backgrounds, theirs beliefs and theirs everyday life’s. During the project, by implementing a space of non-formal educational learning, young people can have an access to talk about similarities and differences, without stereotyping each other, and to learn more about a "different culture". Objectives of the Project: - To encourage innovation and creativity, intellectual and artistic freedom, research and cultural exchange between Germany and Georgia - To give an intensive self-experience for the participants and empowerment through different cultural and artistic workshops - To connect on an individual scale and through cultures - To increase multicultural competencies among participants and strengthen relationship between partner organizations as well as to experience teamwork as a long-time learning and negotiation process
