Objectives

“Digital Citizenship: Encouraging Active Citizenship and Critical Thinking in the Digital Age” was a youth exchange project and was based on non-formal education. Recognizing the significance of digital literacy in today's job market, the project also addressed youth unemployment, emphasizing how digital citizenship and literacy could enhance employment prospects. It aimed to equip young adults, aged 18-30, from various countries facing socio-economic challenges, with skills in digital literacy and awareness about navigating online manipulation. Held from November 18-29, 2023, in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, a well-equipped resort, the project fostered a peer-to-peer learning environment. Aligned with the Erasmus+ program's objectives, it aimed to enhance mutual understanding among participants. Ultimately, the project sought to empower young people in rural areas across different nations to bolster their digital literacy and competitiveness in the job market. The main objectives of the project were: • To enhance the participants' knowledge and understanding of digital citizenship, including issues related to online safety, privacy, security, ethics, and human rights. • To develop the participants' digital skills and competences, such as digital literacy, media production, or data analysis, through hands-on workshops and projects. • To foster the participants' creativity and innovation in using digital technologies for social and environmental purposes, by encouraging them to design and implement digital solutions to local or global challenges. • To encourage the participants to become active digital citizens, by promoting digital inclusion, participation, and advocacy, and by empowering them to take leadership roles in promoting responsible and innovative digital use in their communities. • To promote cultural diversity, tolerance, cooperation, and mutual understanding among the participants, and to reflect on the role of digital technologies in shaping cultural identities and social interactions. • To promote the Erasmus+ program as a platform for non-formal education on digital citizenship and YouthPass as a certification and self-assessment tool.
