People with disabilities continue to face stereotypes and prejudices in their daily lives, limiting their involvement and participation in youth activities. They encounter significant challenges in the labor market, with an employment rate of around 50%, compared to 75% for those without disabilities, according to Eurostat. This also highlights the high risk of poverty among people with disabilities. Additionally, they have fewer educational opportunities and less access to healthcare. In line with the European Disability Strategy 2021-2030, our project aims to increase the inclusivity of people with disabilities in various aspects of life. The project ‘Living with different (DIS)abilities: We are all equal.’ broke stereotypes and prejudices that faced young people with disabilities by implementing an international activity that brought together young people with different abilities. These young people had a safe space to learn from each other and gain a better understanding of the daily realities of young people with different abilities. Moreover, the project encouraged the participants to address stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination around them and contribute to creating a more inclusive society. Our objectives to carry out this project were the following: -Provided young people with and without different abilities an opportunity to directly interact and through direct interaction to break stereotypes and prejudices that young people had towards their peers with different abilities and build common understanding; -Supported social inclusion across participating countries by providing young people with and without disabilities an opportunity to increase their understanding of each other realities, issues, and challenges that they as young people experience on daily bases; -Raised awareness of young people on the importance of social inclusion, breaking mental and physical barriers in society, and enabling all young people to take an active part; -Increased knowledge of young people about the Erasmus + Programme and raised their interest and curiosity about different actions that this Programme provides to young people; -Created a safe space in which young people experienced non-formal education, and worked on their competencies such as communication, teamwork, and presentation; -Provided the partners, youth organizations, an opportunity to provide young people in their communities a chance to take part in international mobility activity of young people; -Strengthened the network between the partners and to support sharing of practices related to working with young with and without disabilities.
