Objectives

The 4th edition of the Greencademy training course, held in 2024, was designed to enhance awareness and develop competencies among young Europeans in the fields of sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and food literacy. Centered around the principles of intercultural exchange and non-formal education, the program fostered the development of green skills and promoted sustainable lifestyles through a holistic and experiential learning approach. Set in the rural landscape of Thuringia, Germany, the training offered participants an immersive outdoor experience on a working farm. Activities were strategically designed to combine theory with practice, with a particular focus on soil health, keyline design systems, and regenerative agricultural models such as permaculture by a team of professional trainers. Participants were actively engaged in collaborative group work to conceptualize and design regenerative agriculture and community engagement project ideas tailored to the unique context and needs of the hosting farm. A key highlight of this edition was the participation of Cacao Source, a social enterprise from Guatemala. Their team contributed valuable insights and practical tools related to launching and managing mission-driven enterprises, offering a global perspective on sustainable development and social entrepreneurship with focus on cacao production. Overall, the course provided a transformative educational experience, equipping young changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and networks necessary to drive sustainable change in their communities and beyond. The project Greencademy TC was developed to achieve the following aims: - Advance the professional growth of youth workers by offering non-formal and hands-on learning experiences. - Foster and expand international collaborations among youth workers to ensure long-term cooperation and shared impact. - Enhance the skills and competencies of young people, especially those in rural areas or with entrepreneurial ambitions- by promoting eco-friendly solutions and sustainable farming and food systems. - Encourage environmental awareness among youth through nature-based learning and ecological education methods. - Contribute to the goals of the EU Green Deal and support aligned policies like the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
