According to the World Health Organization, more than 80% of young people globally are not physically active enough. Children and young people should engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily; According to Aspen Institute, youth sports have become increasingly expensive and exclusive, with lower-income children having fewer opportunities to participate; In the EU, more than half of young people aged 15-24 do not engage in any kind of sports activity according to a Eurostat recent survey; The highest percentage of young people who engage in sports activities is found in Northern and Western Europe, while the lowest is found in Southern and Eastern Europe. The statistics shows that there are still a significant proportion of young people who do not engage in any kind of sports activity. This highlights the need for continued efforts to promote physical activity and sports participation among youth, through different education and outreach programs. Therefore we decided to keep getting involved and expanding our activities and contribute to the goals set by European Commission of increasing the number of people engaging in sports and physical activity across the EU by 15% by 2027, with a particular focus on children and young people. In cooperation with many of our old partners and some new ones we have developed the training seminar "Sports It Out Vol. 4. that brought together 35 youth workers from the program countries. The aim of the seminar was to educate, inspire and equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to use sports as a means of promoting physical fitness, social inclusion, and personal development among young people. The objectives of the seminar were to: - Understand the benefits of sports and physical activity for young people, including physical health, mental well-being, and social development - Develop knowledge of different sports and physical activities that are accessible and inclusive for all young people, regardless of their abilities, background, or interests. - Explore the role of sports in building positive relationships, community development, and the ways in which sports can promote teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. - Learn practical strategies and techniques for designing and delivering effective sports programs for young people, including planning, organization, and evaluation. - Examine the challenges and barriers to providing sports opportunities for all young people, and identifying strategies to overcome them. - Engage in discussions and sharing experiences with other youth workers, to develop a supportive network and exchange best practices. - Develop an action plan for implementing new ideas and strategies in their own work with young people, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership with other organizations and stakeholders. Overall, the seminar equipped the youth workers with the tools and inspiration needed to promote the positive impact of sports on the physical and mental well-being of young people, and encouraged participation in sports and physical activity as a means of promoting personal development, social inclusion, and community development.
