The project aimed to address the growing need for effective and innovative approaches to promote awareness and action in response to the climate crisis. Rooted in the UNESCO concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the project sought to equip youth workers with the necessary skills and creative tools to foster personal and social transformation among young people. It emphasized the importance of education as a means to inspire change and meet urgent global challenges, particularly those related to sustainability and ecology. Additionally, the project aimed to tackle the rising phenomenon of Eco-anxiety, which affects young people struggling with the uncertainty and devastation of the climate crisis. By empowering youth workers to employ non-formal and artistic educational methods, the project aimed to support young people in overcoming feelings of sadness, anger, and powerlessness, thus fostering resilience and agency. Art was a central pillar of the project, recognized for its ability to transcend linguistic, social, and cultural barriers while mobilizing individuals and communities. The project wanted to highlight the role of art as a powerful tool for advocacy, particularly for marginalized voices often excluded from mainstream narratives. By offering space for creative expression, it aimed to give visibility to communities disproportionately impacted by climate change. The project originally involved a preparatory visit and two mobilities: a ten-day training course where participants explored creative educational tools and a subsequent event at the Political Art Days in Dresden. This second phase would have allowed participants to showcase their artworks and facilitate workshops, reinforcing their learning and amplifying their impact. The objectives were: 1) To provide youth workers with artistic tools to use in Education for Sustainable Development activities and to discover new ways to fight against Eco-anxiety 2) To understand the powerful role of Art in advocacy campaigning to fight against climate change 3) To create a space for marginalized people, especially people living in rural areas and/or migrant backgrounds, to express themselves through Art. In summary, the project sought to empower youth workers, engage marginalized voices, and inspire collective action for a greener and more equitable future.
