The primary objective of this project was to raise awareness and deepen understanding among young people regarding the European Green Deal and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We aimed to empower youth by providing them with the necessary leadership and communication tools to advocate for sustainable environmental practices within their local and digital communities. Another central goal was the development of the #EcoInformed Toolkit, a resource designed to facilitate training in environmental activism and sustainability campaigning. We also sought to establish a specialized team of Eco-Informed Ambassadors who could lead international communication efforts and foster cross-border collaboration between Germany, Türkiye, and Romania. Ultimately, the project intended to increase the capacity of participating organizations to support youth-led climate action and create a lasting network of environmentally conscious young leaders.
We applied for this project to address the urgent need for environmental literacy and active citizenship among young people in the context of the climate crisis and the European Green Deal. Our research indicated that while youth are highly concerned about climate change, they often lack the specific leadership and communication skills required to advocate for sustainable practices effectively. By launching this initiative, we addressed the gap between environmental awareness and community action through the creation of a structured training framework. We also identified a lack of digital campaigning expertise among youth organizations, which limited their ability to reach wider audiences with sustainability messages. Furthermore, the project addressed the need for increased international cooperation between German, Turkish, and Romanian youth to share innovative solutions for environmental challenges. Through this partnership, we aimed to empower a new generation of Eco-Informed Ambassadors capable of leading impactful communication campaigns in their local and digital communities.
