Objectives

The GEA project aimed to tackle environmental challenges identified by the EU Environmental Agency, which reported alarming pollution levels across Europe. It focused on empowering young people through non-formal education, promoting youth activism, and motivating them to participate in environmental protection initiatives. The project strengthened the knowledge, skills, and capacities of youth representatives from three organizations in the field of environmental protection and eco actions. A transnational meeting with practical training and a visit to an environmental protection center enabled participants to exchange experiences and national green practices. As a key result, the Educational Guide “Green Practices for a Green Future” was developed, combining examples and methods from three EU countries to support environmental education in youth work. Three local eco activities were organized to promote environmental awareness and sustainable habits among young people and local communities. The project also carried out dissemination and awareness actions to engage the wider public and encourage long-term environmental responsibility.

Background

The GEA project was implemented with the main goal of enhancing the competencies, skills, and knowledge of youth leaders, volunteers, and students in the field of environmental protection and awareness. It responded to the needs identified by the European Environmental Agency, which reported alarming pollution levels across Europe. The project aimed to improve the eco-awareness and green literacy of young people, motivating them to take active roles in environmental initiatives. Through cooperation between three partner organizations, the project facilitated the exchange of national practices and experiences in environmental protection. It produced innovative educational materials and a practical guide to support environmental education in youth work. The activities included one transnational meeting with practical training and a visit to an environmental protection center, as well as three local eco events. Additionally, awareness-raising materials and promotional content were developed to engage the public. The project strengthened collaboration among organizations, local authorities, and decision-makers, contributing to sustainable partnerships and environmental improvement.
