The Ripple Effect was a project which did set up exactly what its name suggests...to be a ripple effect of a previous project on podcast production named “Hello World”, which was implemented by Danish association Arttrain, but had young people from Guldborgsund Ungdomsskole as the Danish participants. So The Ripple Effect aimed at involving more young people in the podcast-work on important issues for them and for our societies and in a way also to finalise “Hello World”, which started out with a training in Finland in Oct. 22 for 2 teenagers from seven different countries, but where reflection and evaluation along the way also said, that for solely online work it is very hard to keep up the motivation and commitment, and maybe especially for teenagers. So, we also found, that it was necessary to bring people together those, who had taken part in the podcast-production for more than a year and then, at the same time involve more young people in this work, which is addressing important issues concerning democracy and society, but is doing this from young people's point of view, as it is said in the podcasts: "whilst there are so many podcast out there…and often aiming for a young audience and market, they are almost always produced by adults and with adults making up all the topics and asking all the questions. “Hello World” set out to do the opposite." and The Ripple Effect prepared for continuing this work. The original “Hello World” team was during The Ripple Effect supported by a row of arts practitioners, and they were together leading the exchange and giving over, as a Ripple Effect, what they have learnt in the past eighteen months about interviewing, sound recording, active listening, editing, making peace with your own voice, articulation, media ethics, animation and writing lyrics about a special theme. At the organisational level it was very important to bring Guldborgsund Ungdomsskole (GUS) back into international youth-work and Erasmus+ projects, which they were before the pandemic, and this was a very logic consequence of their concrete and active involvement during the implementation of Hello World. It became a great success with GUS, who during the preparation-time for The Ripple Effect (which originally was planned to take place in week 42, October-holiday 2023) also applied for E+ accreditation and now has received this.
