UNGKULTCAMP x COLORS OF BEING was a youth-led, participatory fusion of the already three times realized event project UNGKULTCAMP (2020, 2021 & 2022) and the knowledge-sharing Nordic art project COLOURS OF BEING (2022-2023). Both youth partners wanted to increase the accessibility of art and youth culture in the rural districts of North Jutland, and had throughout their project periods expanded their outreach to other parts of Denmark and the Nordic countries. UNG KULT is an association focusing on cultural entrepreneurship for, with and by young people (age 15-30). UNG KULT takes the lead on the youth cultural debate in order to make it attractive to create culture and art with and for each other. This is a three-stage rocket consisting of local commitment, the creation of regional connections and national influence. COLOURS OF BEING is a transnational youth driven project which provides the participating young people with the opportunity to create meaningful dialogues on topics that has no knowledge of physical or national boarders, topics that does not belong to one group of young people but transcends gender, ethnicity, sexual preferences, social boundaries and language communities. Even so, where COLOURS OF BEING (CoB) had been addressing topics such as gender, equality and social sustainability based on participant defined art workshops and public interventions, UNG KULT CAMP (UKC) had been an open and free cultural event counting participants from all over Denmark, involving everyone who wanted to be a part of the process (in 2022 with the help of more than 140 volunteers and 16.000 visitors). UNGKULTCAMP x COLOURS OF BEING integrates the artistic approaches towards cultural creativity and community building with the diplomatic, entrepreneur-inspired and network based ways of making the voices of young people heard among policy makers and stakeholders. UNGKULTCAMP x COLOURS OF BEING was designed, described, executed and evaluated by the young people themselves – the next generation of cultural innovators and artists. The main purpose of the project was to integrate the two groups of young people with one another with the common objective of engaging young people from different backgrounds in building a community and network around a youth culture defined by tolerance, inclusion, diversity and responsibility.
