Objectives

The end of working life can be associated with the loss of an important role in personal identity and social status. This situation may result in separation from society due to the loss of social support and networks. The share of the elderly who live alone after retirement In Europe is 32.1 %, In Denmark 32.1 %, in Sweden 39.0 %, in Germany 33.7 %, and in Türkiye 25 %. With this project, we generally aimed to develop pensioners' skills in 3 different areas so that pensioners could spend more effective and quality time in their new lives to keep their integration into society and ensure their well-being. Our objectives were: 1- To increase the digital, artistic, and physical skills of pensioners;  2- To create open access resources for pensioners and adult educators; 3- To support the psychophysical functioning of pensioners, their active and digital participation in social life, and create cultural awareness. We aimed to enhance pensioners' well-being by improving their digital, artistic, and physical skills, ensuring they stay integrated in society. Additionally, we sought to create open access resources for pensioners and adult educators while promoting active participation, psychophysical health, and cultural awareness.

Background

We applied for this project to address the significant needs of pensioners and adult educators. These needs include: -Providing an online learning platform to improve pensioners' digital literacy, artistic expression, and physical activities; -Addressing the absence of up-to-date resources that help pensioners participate in social life, improving their communication skills and keeping them active; -Reducing loneliness and social isolation by fostering new social connections and boosting self-confidence; -Supporting lifelong learning and the continuous development of pensioners' social, digital, and physical skills to ensure their sustained integration into society; -Addressing the lack of structured educational curricula and activities for retirees, particularly in artistic, physical, and cultural engagement. The pensioners often face isolation and need opportunities to continue social activities, share their experiences, and feel valued. This project aimed to provide these opportunities while also helping our organizations gain valuable experience in educating pensioners. Overall, this project is crucial in filling the gap in educational and social support systems for the elderly, thus contributing to their overall well-being.
