The main objective was to enhance youth employability and reduce unemployment across the Nordic region. We aimed to achieve this by increasing participation in our nonprofit mobility program, Nordjobb, which offers seasonal jobs to EU youth in the Nordic countries. The goal was to boost mobility within the Nordic labor market and provide young people with the opportunity to experience a new country and culture. These international experiences not only improve employability but also foster personal growth and development. A key objective was to engage former Nordjobbers to create a youth-to-youth dialogue, encouraging more young people to apply to Nordjobb. We aimed to establish an ambassador corps to promote the benefits of working abroad. These ambassadors would be equipped, through workshops and training, with the necessary skills to inspire their peers. Additionally, the project sought to lower the perceived barriers of moving abroad by making it more accessible and less intimidating through peer-driven interaction. Another objective was to increase cultural awareness, language skills, and creativity among the ambassadors. Finally, the project aimed to raise interest in the Nordics as a place to live and work.
The Nordjobb Ambassador project was launched to tackle the challenge of youth unemployment and to enhance young people’s employability and mobility across the Nordic region, in line with the Nordic council of ministers' vision of the Nordics becoming the most sustainable and integrated region 2030. Many young people are still unaware of the opportunities to work abroad through the Nordjobb program, which inspired the creation of a youth-to-youth initiative where former participants become ambassadors who motivate and inform others about living and working in another Nordic country. The project addresses several key needs: The difficulty of reaching young people with clear, engaging information about mobility opportunities. The need to empower young people to participate more actively in society and the labor market. The need to develop young people’s skills in communication, languages, and intercultural understanding. A shared goal among partner organizations to strengthen the quality and impact of youth activities and to contribute to a more integrated and sustainable Nordic labor market.
