The main objective of the project was to prepare the battery sector for the upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements by providing targeted training and practical tools. We aimed to increase knowledge about DPP among both top management and shopfloor employees, enabling companies to adapt their processes and meet the new regulatory standards efficiently. To achieve this, we set out to: Identify the specific skills and knowledge needed in the battery sector through a structured needs analysis. Develop a maturity assessment tool to help companies evaluate their readiness for DPP implementation. Create training guidelines, curricula, and innovative digital learning materials accessible to a wide range of learners. Test and validate the training through pilot courses in different countries. Disseminate the results broadly to ensure transferability to other sectors and job profiles. Our goal was not only to support companies in meeting compliance but also to strengthen the capacity and attractiveness of VET providers in delivering cutting-edge, industry-relevant training.
The project was initiated to address the growing need for knowledge and skills related to the EU’s new Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements, starting with the battery sector. The DPP will soon become a legal requirement and will be an important driver for the circular economy, sustainability, and transparency in supply chains. As a vocational education and training provider, we make our living by delivering relevant and high-quality training to companies. This project offered an excellent opportunity to develop new, up-to-date training content and tools that would help us better serve our partner companies and regional industries. Many of these companies lacked awareness, understanding, and resources to prepare for DPP compliance. By developing targeted training, guidelines, and assessment tools, we aimed to equip both management and shopfloor employees with the skills needed for the transition, strengthen our relationships with companies, and support the wider goals of the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan.
